Shoes
Finnish fashion is the home, to a variety of different types of shoes. One of the most popular shoe designers in the country, is Terhi Polkki, who designs flirty and fun shoes for the independent, fashionforward woman. Her collection is called, The Heritage of the Empty Land, and is inspired by the Northern country of Finland. The shoes feature simple shapes, pleats, straps, and organic forms. The footwear line is, also, made from a variety of unique materials, including curly birch, hooves, and reindeer leather.
Another popular shoe designer, in Finland, is Minna Parikka, who is based out of Helsinki. Her selection consists of her classic creations, including her Polly design, which features a wing detailed high heal, and her Ava and Raquel designs, which feature heart decorated styles. Minnas style uses a unique color palate and detailing, which gives, even, the lowest of her heel designs glamor. She also uses vintage influences and signature designs, including the previously mentioned hearts and wings, corsetry, lacing, bows, and contrasts of colors, textures, and materials.
Julia Lundsten is another upandcoming, shoe designer. She launched her line, Finsk, in 2004. She gets inspiration from architecture and furniture, and uses them in her shoe designs. Because of this, her shoes cradle the foot, in a way that a chair would. She, also, uses nontraditional materials, including hard woods from Brazil, in order to create her unique pumps, boots, and ankle booties. This unconventional designer is one to watch in the future, as her designs gain more popularity.
