Päivi Väyrynen, Leila Pulliainen and Ellimari Roth, all fashion design students of the University of Art and Design Helsinki, were awarded with an international Lindström Award yesterday evening. The task of the competition was to design new outfits for customer service staff of Toyota Auto Finland.

The winning collection was mainly inspired by hybrid cars and Japan, but also sportswear. The collection emphasises strongly in high quality and safety, too.

“The collection immediately stood up positively. It was carefully and coherently designed and made” said Clemens Thornquist, Swedish judge from Borås Textile University.

Lindström Award is the only international work wear design competition. European universities and colleges giving education in fashion and clothing are invited to the competition every other year. The second and third place of the competition went to two design teams from the Hungarian Design University Moholy-Nagy.
