Kirsti Kasnio, a fashion designer and architect, presented her collection of evening gowns at Design Museum in Helsinki on 15 May 2008. The show, held in connection with an exhibition Flower Power, presented gorgeously pleated, sophisticated evening gowns.

Even though Kasnio’s gowns are sculptural, they differ from familiar Finnish, sculptural clothing design with their beautifully falling silks, chiffons and organzas. Abundant pleating of materials brings movement and softness to the gowns.

Kirsti Kasnio has an education of an architect and a fashion designer. Therefore she has also been compared to well-known international fashion designers such as Paco Rabanne and Hussein Chalayan. Kasnio’s gowns have been exhibited in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Hamburg and St. Petersburg.

Kasnio has also designed costumes and stages for the Finnish National Opera, Finnish National Theatre, Helsinki City Theatre and Lilla Teatern, situated in Helsinki.
