This year’s sales event of the University of Art and Design Helsinki and Stockmann department store in Helsinki is radiating whiteness and minimalism. The event, which went to a completely different direction from last year’s abundant atmosphere of a paradise to minimalist style, will continue until the end of this week, 25 May 2008.
Argos Young Designers in the Argos Hall of Stockmann is a sales event showing consumers pieces of Finnish new-generation fashion labels – clothes, shoes and accessories – usually available in small, exclusive shops only.
The event presents 26 designers and labels: 2or+by Yat, Antti Asplund, Tiina Aarras / Jousipaita, Aki Choklat, Dead Birds & Lionheart, Dusty, Svetlana Farafonova, Gardens of Jatuli, Girls of Boredom, gTie, Marita Huurinainen, I Know Why No, Nessi Hovi, ILOA, Kaksi-Två, Veera Kulju, Lumi Accessories, Naoto Niidome, Minna Parikka, Mitsumaru, Pisto, St.Vacant, Jasmin Santanen, Hanna Sarén, Tiia Vanhatapio and Cecilia Sörensen.
This year’s Argos Young Designers is themed This is me. Who are you? In addition to shopping, the event gives a chance to take a picture of your own style and leave virtual messages and style hints to other visitors.
The event is organized by a group of MA students of the University of Art and Design Helsinki. The group includes fashion design students Oona Colliander, Emmakaisa Soisalo and Emma Vuorinen, interior design student Katharina Schmidt, graphic design students Matti Kunttu, Anni Puolakka and Anton Yarkin and Anna Keune and Juho Jouhtimäki from the Media Lab.
