Description

The aim of the design education is to create nationally and internationally appreciated knowledge of design. The emphasis lies on developing a student’s visual thinking, product development skills and entrepreneurship ability as well as using different materials and production techniques. Connections in the field as well as national and international projects made in co-operation with companies are vital parts of the programme. The Degree Programme in Design develops design professionals for production, SMEs and the community, where they can work as a specialists or independent entrepreneurs.

The Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences offers many opportunities to participate in national and international projects combining several fields. In Textile Design, the student can specialise in the production of small series of textiles, the industrial design of textiles or in interior textiles. In Fashion Design, he/she can orientate to costume design, corporate clothing or unique pieces. A strong understanding of product development is a base for all orientations.
