Description

Theory and practice are combined to build a broad knowledge of the textile and clothing business in textile and clothing studies. The starting points of the studies are artistic design and innovativeness, and quality and research. A student examines textile and clothing products from artistic, cultural, technical and commercial points of view.

A versatile education in textile and clothing gives the student the artistic and theoretical ability to work as a professional in the textile and clothing industry, retail or media as an entrepreneur or researcher.

The student can plan his/her education by combining studies from the other four faculties with textile and clothing studies. These studies include social sciences, business and tourism, design management, media and the arts. This will help a student to find a place in the field in a changing society with its various and developing needs for specialised knowledge. The faculty’s secondary studies also include the subject of design technology (CAD, 25 ECTS).

Special attention will be paid to the principles of user-based design, sustainable development and ecological thinking, and the programme has strong cultural connections on both the national and international levels.
